Trees of Ottawa

Q: Why Ottawa?

A: Why not?
Ottawa is the capital of Canada and home to the parliament buildings. Ottawa is known for the spring Tulip Festival and the Rideau Canal.

Things don't stop in winter. The canal becomes the world's longest skateway.  Tourists will remember the ice and snow sculptures of the very popular Winterlude Festival.

15 minutes from downtown lies Gatineau Park with over 200 kms of trails winding through natural forests. The fall colours in the park are worth a visit in themselves.

The parks and green space are part of what makes Ottawa such a great place to live in and visit. Ottawa lies at the heart of the Great Lakes-St. Lawrence forest region and as such it hosts an interesting mix of southern broadleaf trees and northern coniferous trees. This web site is dedicated to those of you with an interest in learning more about the trees that grow here. Enjoy.
