The Early Years by Amanda Paweska

SPECIAL: FIRST POEM I EVER WROTE
(1993)
LOSS

He sits, think, cries
For her
He can't stand his loss
Nor deal with it
He keeps it inside
When the world
Is watching
When he is alone
He explodes in pain
He won't open up
To anyone
He is a closed door
To all
But her, his loss

(This is the first poem I ever wrote. It's about the X-Files Character Agent Fox Mulder)

WHEN I LOOK INTO HIS EYES
I won 2nd place for this poem in the 1998 Power of the Pen Awards
When I look
into his eyes
I see;
the shores of
the most
extravagant beaches.
the petals of
the softest rose.
the starry skies
that surround us.
When I look
into his
deep brown eyes
I lose myself.

FOR MOUI
The new friend
I’ve known
for years,
just now
realised.
A voice
over the phone,
a shoulder
when needed,
a confidant
with secrets,
a conversation
over coffee.
A new friend
of many years,
finally seen.

MY FRIEND
For Crystal
A shoulder
to cry on,
a hand
to hold to,
a friend
to learn from:
You have
always been there
either for
just a talk
or to share
our fears.
You have been
my shoulder
to cry one,
my hand
to hold,
and most of all
my friend.

KYRA

Beautiful baby
only a year
since she
lit the sky
a star
has never
shone so bright
Beautiful girl
the bright light
in everyone’s
heart
not knowing
just how much
she is loved
Beautiful child
sweet and small
but soon
shall grow
lighting the sky
for everyone

10/26/01 I wrote this for my goddess daughter’s first birthday.
