| Addis was a well loved family man and friend to many. His home and land was always open. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. Hunters and fisherman alike flocked his home in the woods daily. Not only for the catch of the day but, for the food that Addis and wife Debbie had cooked. Anyone was welcome to stay the night. The style of dress for his funeral was camouflage to honor him. Even his pallbearers wore camouflage. At the funeral, as the beautiful Indian Pipe was played, a Hawk flew above and graced us with his presence. Everyone who heard looked up. Addis passed due to the tragedy of a horrible 4-wheeler accident. Because, of this accident we hope many life's will be saved. Its common for hunters to not run there lights at night on the ATV, as to not attract game wardens. We are not sure why Addis lights were off because, he and his 8 year old granddaughter (Reagan) were just going for ice cream. Maybe because, he didn't want to attract attention to the hunters. They hit his son-in-law (Chad) and his younger brother (Cory) at 50mph head-on. They were coming in from hunting. Chad and Cory are recovering. Little Reagan was thrown clear and ran down the dark country road for help. She got to a store and told them her Daddy and Grandpa were dead. She is a walking miracle. Asked later by her Mom if she was scared, Reagan repied, " No mommy, an angel was with me", Addis legacy will live on through his son. The hunting and fishing for hundreds will not stop. Addis loved Jesus and often quoted the scriptures to those around him. In the small town of Elton, there was only seating for less than 100 in the funeral home. I arrived early and had a seat. Guests standing along the wall and in the hall began the walk first, to pay their last respects. Guests must have been lined up around the block. It felt as though the whole surrounding town people were there. It was amazing as the life "Chief Addis" had shared. | ||||||||||||||||
