*Director(s) Steven Spielberg

*Screenwriter(s) Frank Darabont

*Release Date
2006

*03/31/04
OK, we take it back. Lucasfilm has confirmed that Stuart Beattie is not penning a rewrite as was rumored. This isn't to say the project is dead (it's assumed that George Lucas himself might be reworking Frank Darabont's script), but if and when Indy 4 does make it to the screen, it most likely won't be until 2006. (The Indy Experience)

*03/29/04
The latest on the screenplay front has Stuart Beattie (Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl) rewriting Frank Darabont's draft, with the hope that this one can still hit theaters in 2005. (Variety)

*02/05/04
So yeah, Frank Darabont's script is done … but apparently George Lucas ain't happy with it, so they're bringing in another writer to rework it. That means, of course, that the expected 2004 production start won't be happening, so we probably won't see this flick for another couple of years. (Variety)

*01/30/04
Frank Darabont's done with the script. "I've finished my work, so now it's in the hands of God, or Spielberg and Lucas if you prefer," Darabont told Variety. (Variety)

*07/03/03
Don't believe the rumors you may be hearing; Spielberg is still attached to direct. In an interview, Sean Connery said that the helmer had left the project, but, thankfully, it appears that the Scottish actor was woefully misinformed. (C.H.U.D., Empire)

*06/06/03
An anonymous, though supposedly dependable, source says that shooting will begin in August. (The Indy Journal)

*06/03/03
Harrison Ford tells Sci-Fi Wire that Frank Darabont's screenplay has just been completed. "Steven [Spielberg]'s quite happy with it," Ford says. "I'm expecting to see it in a couple of weeks. The way the process works is that George [Lucas] and Frank work together, then Steven gets the script, then I get the script, and we all work together." (Dark Horizons)

*03/28/03
Frank Darabont himself has shot down the rumor that the script is 255 pages long. Apparently, he's only written 80 pages. (Ain't It Cool News)

*03/27/03
More script rumors: A scooper at LiveJournal.com claims to have spoken to Harrison Ford about a supposed first draft. Ford is reported to have said that it's rather long, between 225 and 250 pages, and "pretentious," though none of this is from any reliable source … (LiveJournal.com)

*03/25/03
Writer Frank Darabont gave an interview to Scifiwire.com in which he said that because the film takes place in the '50s, he'll have to find other villains than "those pesky Nazis." (Empire Online)
