What if you purchase two Spectrums ?

This one is VERY noisy (gear growl). The rear wheels were badly out of round. No pickup on the rear truck as the wire was crushed when the seats were installed.
The parts package was missing the coupler. This unit I did up for my BSRR, adding a Harriman roof and a front door. I cut the unit down about an inch to match the roof.

Quality control is not one of Bachmann's strong points.

This  Bachmann 'Spectrum'  Doodlebug I custom painted for our local shortline. To track properly on my layout it was necessary to shorten the unit. I removed 'two roof panels' / 5 passenger windows (about 2").

The unit runs well.  I would suggest enlarging the holes over the rear pickup as the wires broke on mine in just 9 hours of operation.  I added some foam from a sponge under the seats to help quiet the 'whine' from the unit

here is a view of the unmodified unit

This is a Roundhouse MDC kit I built and painted. There was minimal flash on the castings and easy to follow instructions.  I added a custom built all-weather cab,  feedwater heater, triangle number board and a load of coal in the tender.

The kit has a can motor and runs very well.
