"Aphrodite"
The Goddess of Love
Leaning over, the stunningly beautiful Aphrodite gently swirls the pristine magical pool's surface with her elegantly long finger. As the ripples begin to settle, she leans even closer to study the disturbing scenes unfolding
deeper within the pool.
Great sadness engulf's her heart as she sees her gifts of love and beauty being twisted into horrible tangles of lust, obsession, jealously, hatred, envy and finally, despair. What these puny humans are doing to her precious gift is unforgivable. Why are women and young girls starving themselves to become thinner and thinner to the point of starvation? Whose idea of beauty is this? How can it be that the very sight of surface beauty entraps men so strongly, they become blind to the most important beauty of all... inner beauty. Why are men and women allowing their lustful jealousies to tear marriages and friendships apart? Do not these humans know how quickly this leads to hatred? Cannot they see that this, more often of late, brings about violence and death. Unbelieveably, there are some people becoming so obsessed with lust and beauty, they've come to the point of stalking the target of their obsession. And sadly, sometimes if not most, they will torture and kill the very one they want. Is this love? Is it love to feel cheated in not being beautiful? Why are they dispairing so? Why cannot they see? INNER BEAUTY is what is important! If you have this, then all else will follow.... Sighing, she straightens. Why cannot these pathetic humans understand this gift is meant to bring joy and love into their lives, not this ugly twisted obscene tangle. When will they realize that true love and beauty are seen in the eyes of the beholder? With a heavy heart, she slowly turns her back on the now still pool and all the ugliness it was displaying to regally walk away........ She is... Aphrodite, the goddess of love and beauty.
