The following are part of a brief history of LRHS written by Lisa Murphy and David Ferguson and included 1981 Privateer.

In September 1956, the doors of the new Liverpool Regional High School opened to classes for the first time. Most of the students came from the old Liverpool High School, but for the first time, all high school students from South Queens were housed in one building.
Mr. D.H. Tozer was the first principal. He was to hold the position for nine years.
The first students' council was modeled after the town council. School colours of scarlet and black were chosen along with a crest.
A canteen was established, as well as a variety of activities, such as glee club, debating, dramatics, cheerleading and an intra-mural program.
Doug White edited the first edition of a yearbook entitled Privateer.
In 1957, a new girls' basketball team had been started and the LRHS baseball team won the Headmaster's Prize for A-level schools, an honour retained for the next five years under coach Danny Seaman.
In 1964, the name Warriors was chosen for all LRHS sports teams. In june 1965, Mr. Tozer resigned as principal and Mr. Gordon Hayes became principal of LRHS.
In 1968, as a result of over-crowding, a new wing was built on to LRHS housing more classrooms and offices. In June, Mr Hayes resigned and was replaced by Mr. D.J. MacLean. The school newspaper, The Regional Gas, was established.
Mr. C.J. Burke became principal in 1970. On April 19, 1978, Mr. Burke died suddenly at the age of 43. Mr. Ian Munro served as principal for the rest of the year.
In 1978-79 Mr W.E.Raine became principal, a position he held, except for one
year of sabbatical study, until 1994. During 1982-83, Ian Munro was principal.
Yves Rossignol was principal from 1994-99 and Brian Murray from 1999-00. In
the fall of 2000, Terry Doucette became the principal, a post he currently
holds.
In September of 1990 Liverpool Regional High School moved up the hill to 104
College Road, to a brand new building. They left the Grade 9s behind in the old
facility, now South Queens Junior High School.
In September 2006 LRHS will celebrate 50 years, with special celebrations taking
place in June 2007 celebrating the 50th anniversary of the first graduation.
