Unlike weaving or smithwork, there are no myths about knitting. The craft seems to be too young to have developed mythology. There are a few romantic legends, but these are all of relatively recent origin, within the last few centuries.
The earliest verifiable knitted items were recovered from archaological sites in Egypt, and it is estimated that they are from about 1,000 A.D.
