Do you tink dat, ahh, we should tell dese people about Alouetteski and da AwO?
Well mon frere, I tink dat dat would be a great idea, and maybe we could sing for dem, yes?
But of course, we did not canoe all da way from Chicoutimi just to sit here and look good.
Ok, we will start with the legend of the Alouetteski.

In every generation there is a chosen one. This individual is often recognized as a rookie, and is taken on by an "Alouetteski Master", to be their apprentice. They are then taught the ways of "The Alouetteski". Taken to Chicoutimi, they master the fine art of canoeing. This is followed by intense voice training in Trois-Rivieres. After the "Master" is satisfied that the young apprentice is ready to pass the test, they learn "The Song". "The Song" is the trademark of "The Alouetteski". Armed only with this song, the young apprentice can conquer all, and place the ever sought after smile on the faces of all campers. Then, and only then, does this once young rookie become an "Alouetteski Master".

Well, here is how Alouetteski came to Kidaca, as far as I know:

The song "Alouetteski is similar to the song "Alouetta", the difference comes with the presentation. Years ago at Halliburton Hockey Haven there were a couple of counselors that used to sing the song, and perform it somewhat like it is done today by Jacque and Pierre. Also at Halliburton Hockey Haven was a young man named Fudge, yes... Fudge. Fudge realized the potential of "Alouetteski" and decided to introduce it to KIDACA when he had the opportunity. This is when Eric and Pierre burst onto the scene. Eric was played by Fudge, and Pierre was a counselor named Craig. During the few years that Eric and Pierre were around there were new characters introduced ("Gaston", who was a former CFL player with the Montreal Alouettes Frank, and "Jacque", not me, but a supervisor of KIDACA, Paul), and personal touches added to the act. This is when I was first introduced to "Alouetteski". I enjoyed the performance so much, as a volunteer, that I decided that I would have to continue the tradition when I became a counselor. I did the act with a few different people, but non really measured up. Then in 1999 I met Pierre also known as Rob Fuciarelli. Rob was in his first year as a counselor, but he definitely had what it took. Rob and I, once again, added new characters ("Monique", a cute little princess named Jeanette, "Belle", the beautiful Courtney, and of course "The Lumberjack", Peter), and added our own personal touches. The biggest addition to Alouetteski by Rob and me is the AwO (Yes "Rob and me", grammar nazis think before you critisize) . Rob and I were scheduled to perform Alouetteski for the entire staff at training. Along with this we were going to do a presentation of the importance of roll playing. Well, a day before we were to have our spotlight we were told that there was not enough time for us. Being that Rob and I are both huge wrestling fans we decided that the "Alouetteski World Order" was going to take over training. With all the staff gathered under a pavilion 8for other purposes, not ours) we stood up on the picnic tables, tore of our life jackets (yes we actually had them with us) to reveal our new staff shirts with AwO written across them (you can see a picture of them below). Now that KIDACA is gone it seems Alouetteski may fade away. It is just our hope that one of our campers takes what is ours and makes it their own for a whole new generation.

Well now you may be asking who the heck are Jacque and Pierre? What is this "act" that was mentioned? And where on earth is Chicoutimi? Don't fret, those questions will be answered.
The characters of Jacque and Pierre (or Eric and Pierre) are two brothers that come from Chicoutimi Quebec. Chicoutimi is located, well, in the middle of no where. The only way to describe it is with a map (thank you yahoo maps).

Yes it really is that far (trust us, we dove there for a weekend road trip!). Anyhow, back to the story. Whenever Alouetteski was going to be sung you would hear Hey Pierre! and you knew the French brothers were here. Jacque and Pierre would start talking to the campers (or other audience) with their Quebecois accents, and would tell the story of how they canoed down the St Lawrence river, all the way from Chicoutimi. The campers would always be asked questions as to their knowledge of Chicoutimi or what they knew about Jacque and Pierre. After a few minutes of talking, the question would always arise: "Hey, ah Pierre, do you tink dat we should sing our song for dese campers?" The campers would them be asked: "Do you want us to sing our song?" This would always induce a very loud scream of "Yes!" Then "Alouetteski" began. The song goes as follows:

All Alouetteski, gentille Alouetteski; Alouetteski je te plumerai, HEY!
Jacque and Pierre Je te plumerai la têteski.
Campers Je te plumerai la têteski.
Jacque and Pierre A la têteski.
Campers A la têteski.
Jacque and Pierre Alouetteski.
Campers Alouetteski
All Oh, Oh, Oh, Oh,

All Alouetteski, gentille Alouetteski; Alouetteski je te plumerai, HEY!
Jacque and Pierre Je te plumerai la noseski (Eric & Pierre - noseacough).
Campers Je te plumerai la noseacough.
Jacque and Pierre A la noseski.
Campers A la noseski.
Jacque and Pierre A la têteski.
Campers A la têteski.
Jacque and Pierre Alouetteski.
Campers Alouetteski
All Oh, Oh, Oh, Oh,

This continues until the final verse, where the repeating lines are:

Jacque and Pierre A la Wayne Gretzky.
Campers A la Wayne Gretzky.
Jacque and Pierre A la buttski.
Campers A la buttski.
Jacque and Pierre At la pitski.
Campers A la pitski.
Jacque and Pierre A la boucheka.
Campers A la boucheka.
Jacque and Pierre A la noseski.
Campers A la noseski.
Jacque and Pierre A la têteski.
Campers A la têteski.
Jacque and Pierre Alouetteski.
Campers Alouetteski

Of course, just knowing the song is not enough to become part of the AwO. There is a whole attitude and energy that was put into the song each time it was performed. This is something only a true Alouetteski Master could do.

Here are some pictures of the famous Jacque and Pierre.
