Here are some of my favourite questions from the area of mathematics and physics.
1 What
is the difference between heat and temperature?
2 Are
fluorescence and luminescence synonyms? Why?
3 Is it
wrong to say that the temperature of the air in shade is 300 degrees
Kelvin? Why?
4 Which
physical device is represented by Tesla coil, that is to say, what is
another name for Tesla coil?
5 Describe
the motion of an object if the sum of all the forces acting on that
object equals zero.
6 Describe
the motion of a material point if the sum of all the forces acting
on that material point equals zero.
7
Who is Jordan of Gauss-Jordan fame?
8 How
many times more intense is an earthquake of magnitude 7.3 on the
Richter scale than an earthquake of magnitude 5.3 on the Richter scale?
9 Which
theorem is known in Latin language as REGULA SEX
QUANTITATUM?
10 Which theorem is
known in Latin language as HEXAGRAMMA
MYSTICUM?
11 What is the name
for the locus of infinity squared continuous straight lines
in space?
12 What is the name
for the locus of infinity cubed continuous straight lines
in space?
13 Construct a triangle
given one of its sides, say c, the difference of the
adjacent angles to side c, and the height to side c.
SYMBOLS FOR PROJECTIVITY
AND PERSPECTIVITY
These symbols have been
with us for a long time. In the past when the manuscripts were done in
handwriting, they caused headaches only to printers. Now they give headaches
also to authors, because it is impossible to write these symbols on a typewriter
or a computer. Maybe the time has come to think about replacing them with
new symbols. What do you think? Any suggestions for new symbols?
Our suggestion is:
>| for projectivity, >|| for perspectivity,
and >||O for perspectivity with centre O.
To obtain new symbols, rotate
the old symbols through -90° angle.

Favourite quote among many
professors of mathematics: "You cannot overestimate the stupidity of your
audience".
Our favourite quote: "One
measure of excellence is the ability to respond effectively to extraordinary
circumstances".
Another favourite quote:
"One measure of the incompetence of a person or an organization is the
inability to respond correctly to ordinary circumstances".
There are two important principles that
we follow. They are:

1. Hankel-Peacock Principle
of Permanency in Mathematics: When expanding mathematical concepts
one should strive to retain, if at all possible, the same laws of algebra
as in the previous systems, and,
2. Our own Principle
of Standardization in Sciences: Scientific symbols and terminology
in every aspect of usage should attempt to approach the level of being
international in character. After all, if the words, nomenclature, units,
and symbols are not correct, then what is said is not what is meant.
