Kingston Limestone Dancers

Welcome!

Heart and Stroke Dance

Welcome to the Kingston Limestone Dancers website! (Click on any photo you wish to enlarge.)

Dancing for the 2008/9 season starts on Monday, September 8th, with Basic/Mainstream. We meet to dance at Polson Park Public School, 165 Robert Wallace Drive, in Kingston, Ontario, starting in September, through to April. Basic/Mainstream dancers meet on Monday nights (caller Bob Summer), Advanced dancers on Tuesday nights (caller Keith Hubbard), Choreographed Ballroom Dancing (aka Round Dancing) on Wednesday night (cuer Susan Connors), and Plus dancers on Thursday nights (caller Keith Hubbard). Basic/Mainstream starts at 7:15... all other levels start at 7:30.

So, why do people square dance? For many, it is the challenge of dancing their way through a continuous series of unpredictable and complex movements... the satisfaction that comes with a perfect tip, or the hilarity that comes when a dancer has a momentary brain-freeze. Others enjoy the exercise, since dancing every tip in an evening can equal a three-mile walk. Everyone enjoys the social aspect of square dancing... where else can you hug and hold hands with so many people? What other activity has an actual command to hug?!

Although undiscovered by many, square dancing appeals to any age. The Limestone Dancers are around 50 years and up, and we have one young lady in her teens. All ages are welcome!

Smile!
