The three communities that make up the Highgate, Morpeth and Turin pastoral charge are all within the Municipality of Chatham-Kent. Our rural neighbourhoods are close to small towns like Ridgetown, Thamesville, and Blenheim which have all your basic shopping needs. We benefit from local Public and High Schools, located in Ridgetown. Health care and Service Clubs are all within the surrounding towns. The city of Chatham ,population of approximately 40,000 is located approximately 25 minutes from Highgate. There are three shopping malls, many businesses and health services such as two hospitals, Public General and St Joseph's. All three communities are well served by a 24 hour Ambulance service Highgate is a quiet village of 500 people located in an agricultural-based area. Two feed mills supply the surrounding farming community as well as a source of employment for many. The village maintains a grocery store, bank, post office, gas station and convenience store. The ball park and service clubs host a variety of activties for Highgate and the surrounding area. Being minutes from the 401 Highway is advantageous as London and Windsor are about a one hour drive each way. Morpeth is an unincorporated village of about 200 people in the Municipality of Chatham-Kent. This is a very active agricultural area, producing a variety of crops also livestock production of swine raising. A modern community centre provides a meeting place for many community groups and is available for weddings and other events. Morpeth is well served by a general store, a restaurant, a garage and one service station. Located close to the towns of Ridgetown and Blenheim. Turin is a rural neighbourhood, located approximately 10 minutes from Ridgetown, Highgate and Thamesville. A strong sense of community is felt by everyone. The economy is farm-based, while people work at other jobs off the farm. |
