The current chime

is now based on the
harmonics
of the frequency of the
"Earth-Year"
and of the sacred syllable "OM", which is
136.10 Hz
, as worked out by Hans Cousto in
"The Cosmic Octave Tuning Forks"
.
This was the
original
chime sound.
The sound should be continuous and smooth, without any pops, clicks or pauses, repeating every 1.1 seconds.
Please use Programs, Accessories, Entertainment, Volume Control from the START menu to adjust the volume to a low, unobtrusive level.
If you hear a pause between the chimes, or a pop at the end, then you have an older browser or the new Windows Media Player 9 upgrade.
If you hear very rapid repetitions or just a single chime and then nothing, you have Quicktime 6.5.1, so just use the play button each time you wish to hear the sound.
If you hear nothing then your browser needs a plug-in.
Microsoft Internet Explorer plays it best.
The actual GPS-triggered chimes repeat every 1.000 seconds without a pause at the end.
