As performing artists, clowns have existed since the court fool of Pharaoh Dadkeri-Assi about 4000 years ago in Egypt. A performing artist dressed as a clown intentionally creates laughter. The clown can be a total failure as a performer, yet be a grand success as a clown.

In America the clown has emerged from the American circus. In the 20th century the clown has moved from circus to "Party Clown" "Clown Ministry" using puppets, skits and stories as a performing artist. Today we see the clown as a performing artist in the home, the shopping mall, the school, the church, the hospital and nursing homes
.                             .

CIP supports the expansion of the clown as a performing artist immersed and homogenized into the community as a whole.
