Toronto's Troy Glaus named Bank of America Presents the American League Player of the Week |

Blue Jays third baseman Troy Glaus has been named the Bank of
America Presents the American League Player of the Week for the period
ending May 6th. Bank of America, the Official Bank of Major League
Baseball, is the presenting sponsor of the American League and National
League Player of the Week Awards, which reflect the company's
long-standing tradition of recognizing achievements that inspire us all
to seize opportunities to perform at our very best.
Glaus hit .400 (10-25) with a .960 slugging percentage, two doubles,
four HR, seven RBI, eight runs and 24 total bases. In his third game
back from an injury, he went 2-for-3 with a home run, two RBI and two
runs scored against the Rangers on April 30th. During a three-game
series against the Indians at Jacobs Field (May 1-3), Glaus went
6-for-13 with two home runs, four RBI and four runs scored. The
four-time A.L. All-Star is batting .352 with six home runs and 14 RBI
this season. This is Troy's fourth Player of the Week award and his
first as a Blue Jay.
Other candidates considered were Detroit's Craig Monroe (.348, 2 2B, 3
HR, 10 RBI), Kansas City's Ross Gload (.455, 3 2B, 1 3B, 3 RBI),
Vladimir Guerrero (.375, 2 2B, 2 HR, 9 RBI) of the Angels, Hideki Matsui
(.348, 5 2B, 1 HR, 7 RBI) of the Yankees and Indians pitcher C.C.
Sabathia (2-0, 4.15 ERA, 18 SO, 13.0 IP).
Tourneau, the world's largest watch store, has supplied Troy Glaus with
a luxury Swiss Tourneau timepiece in recognition of his achievements as
player of the week.
