We have much enjoyed the Bush presidency and acknowledge that we shall sorely miss him. As the last year winds down, the President has been building his legacy, much in the same way he conducted his Presidency from one disaster to the next.
In Belgrade, former capital of Yugoslavia, angry Serbs celebrated the 9th Anniversary of the improvised US attack by torching the US Embassy. Their actions were unopposed by the Marine Guards.
According to our favorite Serb, Bob Dj, the crowd may have been provoked in order to tarnish the image of the Serbs. There has been no explanation for the inaction of the Marine Guard.
Domestically, the Hill clinging to the hope of replacing The Bush has been destroying the Democratic Party. Campaign photos of her likely opponent, Senator Obama, have been made darker to scare some of the White Liberals; Hill has also accused Obama of being the Muslim Manchurian Candidate and at the same time attributing to Obama the views of his Christian Minister.
The Society commented that the Hill has so efficiently divided the Democrats that John McCaine's most serious opponent will likely by the Independent candidate Ralph Nader.
The Hill's tactics typify the Clintons with their signature Trailer Park White Trash.
The Hill's problem is similar to that faced by FDR in the Smith campaign of 1928. The Democratic Party is largely made up of one racial group; the Republicans, the White declining majority. Of course, FDR, a man of class and distinction knew the importance of timing.
Hill is off to China to the Olympics at the moment.
The Olympics is a serious point of contention between US Liberals and the Red Chinese over Tibet, a place most people here have never heard of. After a number of years of semiautonomy under the Dalai Lama, Tibet was forcibly integrated into Red china in 1959. Every March, Chinese expect problems with the locals. This year troubles revealed violent proportions with Tibetans mounting violent attacks on Chinese resettled there by the Communists. The People's Republic has asked the US to stop aiding the Terrorists.
The violence in Tibet has spilled over into neighboring Nepal and India and from there to Greece and France. In Greece at the lighting of the Olympic Torch as nymphs in flowing gowns sang of peace and freedom, Greek police and military with batons flashing beat on peaceful Tibetan protesters. The March of the Torch through Paris was marred by more violent protests. French police were forced to douse the torch and escort it on a bus through town. Similar protests are expected in San Francisco.
The disturbances may have embarrassed the Chinese hosts of this year's Olympics. China has been vying for the games since the age of the Nationalists. However the disturbances may have breathed some life into an otherwise inflated and frumpy affair.
While Chinese police were beating down Tibetans, Taiwan (Republic of China) held a peaceful election and hand over of power from the native Taiwanese Democratic Party to the Chinese exiled Kumintang (Nationalist) Party. Notwithstanding disturbances on the mainland, KMT received a whopping 58% of the vote running on a platform of promising greater ties with their mainland cousins.
China may have faced some disturbances but rumblings felt on Wall Street where the giant shuddered as the overheated US economy cooled with a wave of foreclosures and layoffs which collapsed the trading giant Bear-Sterns. Massive layoffs once again rocked the economy.
The Regime, noted the semiofficial voice of the NY Times, has had little to public comment on economic affairs. Of course the Bush Regime isn't the first regime in the history of the world to have financed a war on inflation and distracted the multitudes with bread and circuses.
Little has been spoken of the war effort, what little there is, in the past few months. However an offensive in Basra did make the BBC as US forces attempted to retake the city. Pictures on BBC showed Arabs dancing on destroyed US equipment. The offensive witnessed the Iraki (Quisling) Army running from the battle in the thousands.
The Regime blamed the dismal failure on the overconfidence of the Iraki (Quisling) Prime Minister. General Petraeus described the situation in Irak as "fragile." That's a nice word for a poorly planned, poorly executed, costly failure.
