Bhutto assasinated in Pakistan - Kenya Elections end in crisis - Reinforcements to Middle East -
US Econonomy Falters - CG plans to ship out operations to West Virginia -
Secret Service split over brutal arrest of civilian who told Dick Cheney he was against war
US officials claimed to be aghast when Benizir Bhutto who
returned to pakistan to run in parliamentary elections forced
by the US upon Paki potentate Sheik Pervez Musharraf was assasinated.
Under pressure from the White House, Sheik Musharraf who came to power in a coup d'etat had
shortly before the assasination gave up his uniform and his
command of the armed forces which installed him. Only last month in a lead up
to the elections, Sheik Musharraf deposed the Pakistani Supreme Court
leading to widespread protests and renewed crackdowns and violence.
The sheik blamed all the troubles on the Tailiban.
Dr James Davies Mentor of The Society expressed the hope that Britain's former colonies might show the path to democracy.
Vigorously upbraiding the Mentor for excessive enthusism, the Dean commented that left to their own wits the arab world would prefer no democracy but a caliphate under religious law.
The assasination puts the Bush administration in good stead all round.
On one hand, the unfortunate turn of events satisfies both domestic constituents
of the Regime and Mr Bush's ally Sheik Musharraf. On
one hand, Mr Bush plays to the delusion that he can episcopalianise Islam; on the
other a troublesome point for his ally Sheik Musharraf has been eliminated.
The sheik himself has been weakened by loss of direct control of the Pakistani
armed forces such that a change in command in Pakistan
may be facilitated when necessity requires.
Reminiscent of the election of 2000 which brought The Regime to power,
elections in Kenya produced widespread voter dissatisfaction and accusations
of election fraud. The Regime urged seemingly re-elected
President Mwai Kibaki to enter into a coalition government with
with opposition leader Raila Odinga, a thought that had not occurred
to Our Leader in the fall of 2000. The kenyan parliament
miffed at election results rejected Kibaki's candidate
for Speaker of The House in favor of one sponsored by the opposition.
The opposition promises continued boycotts and resistence.
The Society notes items from Andy Martin who seemingly blames Kenya's problems on
Barack Obama, a candidate for the democratic nomination for President. The society
could not see how Barack Obama could be responsible for the malaise in a distant former British possession.
As Our Leader pursued his legacy, the pipe dream of a Middle East peace and Episcopalian Islam,
the nation's economy ailing under seven years of excesses and a war financed
on credit expansion hemorrhaging jobs outsourced to the Third World,
Our Leader proposed more bread and circuses, $1600 to each US family.
The Establishment Press expressed surprise that the hemorrhaging
of industrial and manufacturing jobs exceeded 20%.
Dr James Davies, The Lord Mentor of the Society, observed
that the people who write such emotive expressions of shock and
awe must be blind. Haven't they heard that the air is clean over
Pittsburgh?
According to reports in the Establishment Press, Secret Service officials split over excesses committed by agents in
the brutal bashing of a citizen who told Dick Cheney
he opposed the war. Deprecations on civil rights also hit the news when Our Leader asked Congress
to immunize telephone companies which supported
the Regime's illegal wiretapping programme.
NYANG returns to the war zone. New York's own 42nd (Rainbow) Division), withdrawn after
the mutiny in reserve forces in December 2004, was retued to
the front no doubt to assist in the dancing in the street reported in the
Establishment Press.
In the midst of tragedy, there is humour. The Coast guard plans
to join other Federal Agencies that have headed for the Hills.
The Coast Guard plans to relocate its base of operations to the landlocked
state of West Virginia from which it can oversee
vessels on the High Seas.

QUOTE OF THE DAY
"The laws of supply and demand will be the ultimate reason why a business succeeds or fails and ethics do play a major role. When the ethics of those consumers who support the business is faulty, then the company will succeed with those people, until their ethics change. For instance, as long as people demand cigarettes, tobacco companies will be profitable and the air polluted in the vicinity of smokers. We can only have ethical companies when people understand the true meaning of ethics. The greed of companies only reflects the greed of the people who run them, which in turn reflects society they live in. In a nutshell... Treat others in the same way we would like to be treated."
