Removing the Exhaust System...

I decided I wanted to start a bit of work firewall forward, so I began by removing the exhaust system, from the cylinders out. The muffler just fits between the firewall, and motor mount, but you need to remove all the attachments on it.

Here is the muffler, and all the hot air accessories, boxed away
for easy access.

The crossover exhaust on the floor.
Darn... Looks like my Lyc. does indeed have 7/16" exhaust valve stems. This is looking up at cylinder #4's exhaust port with a 7/16" wrench over the exhaust valve's stem.

After I stuffed the four exhaust ports with oil soaked rags to minimize air movement into the engine.
