I lifted the tail up.

Here is the bottom access. I've given the inside a good vacuuming now. I don't think there was any rodents inside because there is no sign of droppings. The straw must have been from a failed attempt by a bird to build a nest. The cable that you see hanging down attaches to the antenna on the panel.
