History of C-GQUZ...

This is the history of my Pacer as I've uncovered through old log books and photo albums etc...

Feb. 27, 1959 Lockhaven Pa.: Tri-Pacer N9744D, serial# 22-6657, Lycoming O-320-B2A, Sensenich M74DM
Apr. 22, 1959 Piper Inspection Complete - 24hrs on Tach & Airframe
July 31, 1959 Left Piper (assuming it served as a demonstrator up to this time) - 89hrs Tach & Airframe
Apr. 19. 1960 1st 100 hr inspection @ 105hrs Tach & Airframe.
A new tach was installed with zero time recorded.
Nov. 10, 1961 A Lycoming "Remanufactured Zero Time Engine" installed O-320-B2B, with original prop. Tach reads 152hrs, old engine time of 257hrs, Airframe time of 257hrs, new engine time of 0hrs. The engine log records the fact that the Tach was reset to zero at this time.
May 7-25, 1964 Recovered wing and tail surfaces.
May 25, 1965 Tach time: 820hrs, Airframe: 1077 (but recorded as 972... mistake, old tach removed @ 105hrs, but the airtime was actually 257hrs at that point, not just 152hrs... so the first 105 hrs went missing! Therefore, 105 hrs needs to be added to all Airframe times henceforth.
July 18, 1965 Top Overhaul of engine completed by "Wiggins Airways", Norwood Municipal Airport, Norwood Massachusetts. Tach time: 847.00 hrs "Standard rings used with Chrome Cylinders..." Reconditioned cylinders, reconditioned pistons...etc. (I'll write the report up some other time...) Prop overhauled by New England Propeller Service, Inc. Bradley Field, Windsor Locks, Conn. Both mags overhauled.
Found out from the report that the Tri-Pacer was owned by Westover Aero Club, Chicopee, Massachusettes.
Aug. 28, 1978 Recovered in "Grade A Fabric"
Aug. 31, 1978 Purchased from U.S. by my Grandad and Father - Registration now C-GQUZ
Tach time:1300.66 hrs , Airframe time as recorded: 1453.00 hrs, True Airframe time: 1558.00 hrs
Oct. 24, 1978 My father took me, my brother and my mother up for the first time in C-GQUZ flying out of Oshawa Airport.
