The Dance Academy of Prince Rupert (DAPR) believes in friendly, confident dance training that allows students to grow and learn in a comfortable and encouraging environment. Our long-term, knowledgeable staff has excellent training and a combined teaching experience of over fifty years! Having been a proud part of the community for over 30 years, The Academy recognizes the need to take an active role. Our students perform at various functions throughout the year both for entertainment and charitable purposes. Our students have participated in festivals and competitions all over the globe and always make a good showing. Our training can be taken as far away as Australia or stay as close to home as Terrace and you will always feel at home in a dance class. Our class work is internationally recognized and the exams offered are recognized world-wide. We pride ourselves on the many students who are now training or performing in "the business", as well as on the good work being acheived by our current students. We offer classes to students age 3 years through to adults. Ballet, Pointe, Character National, Free Movement, Jazz, Lyrical, Modern, Variety, HipHop, Tap, Song & Dance, Irish, Acrobatics, Boys Only Tumbling and Preschool create our strong and diverse program. Our classes are affordable and our three-studio building is conveniently located. Our studios have sprung wood floors that cushion the joints, mirrors, and barres for use in teaching strong technique and artistry.

Our competitive program, the "DAPR Dance Team", is open to any student age 6-18 years who wishes to pursue a more intensive study of dance. These students are allowed extra performance opportunities both within the community and around B.C. at large. We annually attend the Pacific Northwest Music Festival and the B.C. Annual Dance Competition, as well as one other festival. Each year we are impressed by the students' enthusiasm and dedication as they perform with grace and presence at these events.

We hold fabulous year-end recitals. Each show is an array of Ballet, Pointe, Character National, Jazz, Lyrical, Tap, Song & Dance, Variety, Acrobatics, Irish and Preschool. Including all students from age 3 to adult, it always proves to be a rewarding and entertaining experience.

Our long-term staff provide an atmosphere of professionalism, continuity and friendship. DAPR has a truly well-trained, talented and positive staff, who are able to teach a variety of disciplines and train competitive and recreational dancers, with sensitivity, to their full potential. DAPR would not be what it is without its caring and confident staff.
