 1. Introduction by Terry Parrott.


 2. Steve Hotchkiss, L & H Consultants - Presentation on COE fall
 conference

 - COE website, www.coe.org
 - Attendance down, 3 Day format instead of the usual 4 Day format.
 - Amount of presentations times were condensed so that more sessions
 were scheduled at the same time.
 - Many similar domain presentations at the same time, therefore choices
 need to be made on what to attend.
 - 80% of the presentations were on V5.
 - Many hands-on opportunities on software.
 - Regional User Group (RUG) program to create a flow between different
 user groups in sharing resources (topics & speakers)
 - Presentation by Phil Harrison on V5 – getting there… Powerpoint

 3. Open Discussion
 - Dates suggested Monday February 19, May 14, August 20, November 19
 - Meetings to be held at IBM, Markham, Ontario.
 - Possible golf tournament for next year.
 - V5 –V4 model can be created as a passive model but can a drawing be
 associated back into V4?
 - Declarations needed to be added in V4 to be able to read V5 into 4.
 The computer must have both versions of CATIA and licenses installed.
 - History with all the geometry created but the geometry can be
 isolated.
 - Multi hardware issues between UNIX and NT – naming conventions
 important but multi hardware environments work and it is not necessary
 to have just UNIX or just NT.
 - VPM in Chrysler only works in UNIX which may restrict moving o NT at
 this time.
 4. Phil Markham, IBM, CATIA Update
 - Extreme engineering seminars include presentation on V5 and let
 participants use the system.
 - Presentation by Phil is available on our website.
 5. V5 Test Drive
 - Participants had the opportunity to create a part in V5.

 - Demonstration of model management including, viewing all model
 attributes (such as FD & T) and the benefits of spreading CAD access
 throughout the company
 - FD & T functionality in V5,
 - advanced surfacing,
 - Machining in V5R5
 - Hardware Planning for V5
 - Where is DaimlerChrysler heading?
 - What functions of V5 do you loose by staying with Unix?
 - Large model performance measurements between Unix to NT hardware (6000
 to IntelliStation?)
