| Minutes of meeting, November 13, 2000 1. Introduction by Terry Parrott. 2. Steve Hotchkiss, L & H Consultants - Presentation on COE fall conference - COE website, www.coe.org - Attendance down, 3 Day format instead of the usual 4 Day format. - Amount of presentations times were condensed so that more sessions were scheduled at the same time. - Many similar domain presentations at the same time, therefore choices need to be made on what to attend. - 80% of the presentations were on V5. - Many hands-on opportunities on software. - Regional User Group (RUG) program to create a flow between different user groups in sharing resources (topics & speakers) - Presentation by Phil Harrison on V5 – getting there… Powerpoint presentation on our website: www.cuco.org 3. Open Discussion - Dates suggested Monday February 19, May 14, August 20, November 19 - Meetings to be held at IBM, Markham, Ontario. - Possible golf tournament for next year. - V5 –V4 model can be created as a passive model but can a drawing be associated back into V4? - Declarations needed to be added in V4 to be able to read V5 into 4. The computer must have both versions of CATIA and licenses installed. - History with all the geometry created but the geometry can be isolated. - Multi hardware issues between UNIX and NT – naming conventions important but multi hardware environments work and it is not necessary to have just UNIX or just NT. - VPM in Chrysler only works in UNIX which may restrict moving o NT at this time. 4. Phil Markham, IBM, CATIA Update - Extreme engineering seminars include presentation on V5 and let participants use the system. - Presentation by Phil is available on our website. 5. V5 Test Drive - Participants had the opportunity to create a part in V5. 6. Upcoming topic suggestions: - Customer success story on implementing ENOVIA Portal - Demonstration of model management including, viewing all model attributes (such as FD & T) and the benefits of spreading CAD access throughout the company - FD & T functionality in V5, - advanced surfacing, - Machining in V5R5 - Hardware Planning for V5 - Where is DaimlerChrysler heading? - What functions of V5 do you loose by staying with Unix? - Large model performance measurements between Unix to NT hardware (6000 to IntelliStation?) |
